Obituary of Lottie Hewitt Hearl

Lottie Rebecca Hewitt Hearl, 83, widow of James Arthur Hearl, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Born on October 25, 1931, in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Solomon Joseph Hewitt and the late Zelia Rebecca Benton Hewitt. Mrs. Hearl was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of the first graduating class of Myrtle Beach High School and was a permanent substitute teacher with the Georgetown County School District for many years as well as an employee with Tomlinson’s Department Store. Mrs. Hearl enjoyed spending time with her family and was a true southern lady. Survivors include her daughter, Robin Rebecca Hearl (Joe O’Hara) of Georgetown; a grand dog, Sadie; two sisters, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Benton of Myrtle Beach and Madelyn Cole of Florence; two brothers in law, Dozier Hearl of Georgetown and Rev. Nelson Hearl (Lynn) of Conway; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Arthur Hearl. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Withers Cemetery in Myrtle Beach at 4:45 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Going Forward in Faith Fund, 519 Cleland St. Georgetown, SC 29440 or to the hospice organization of one’s choice.
