Obituary of George Ralph Blake

George Ralph Blake, 78, husband of Amelia Johnson Blake, passed away on September 24, 2014 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born on February 25, 1936, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Thomas Bryan Blake, Sr. and the late Rubie Thomas Blake. Mr. Blake was a US Army veteran and also served in the South Carolina National Guard. He retired after 46 years of service as an instrument electrician with International Paper Company and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Blake was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Keystone Sunday School class. He enjoyed word search puzzles, driving his tractor, reading and working around the house. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two daughters, Elizabeth Allison Denson (Bill) of Saint Marys, GA and Kelly Blake Evans (Jason) of Orangeburg; two step granddaughters, Ashley Denson Young (Dan) of Lynchburg, VA and Sarah Denson Haislip (Andrew) of Charleston; a brother, Padgett “Pat” Laverne Blake (Patsy) of Bessemer City, NC; three sisters in law, Helen R. Johnson and Betty Johnson of Georgetown and Jackie Johnson McDonald of Peosta, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two half brothers, Thomas Bryan Blake, Jr. and Francis M. Blake; and two half sisters, Delane Blake Wilkes and Mary Nell Neely. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 27, 2014 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
